Beat Kit: Choices.bmk

by carmot on Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:03 pm

I decided to make my current beat kit available. It is called choices, because I do like to have lots of them.
So instead of just including one basekick, and one snare, or maybe two, I included several.

These are the pads.
Under pads 1 - 6 a lot of different beats are hiding. You will have to select the hihat you want, or the snare, using the chopper as ilustrated below.
Pads 7 - 10 are straight forward congas, 11 - 15 are a few Djembe sounds. 16 is a simple cymbal loop I just tossed in for good measure :)

This is the chopper screen for the snare pad. As you can see, there are 15 snares available. Select the one you want by highlighting the waveform you want. Use the lock zone to position the beat according to your requirements. Ah, the choices :)

Download the Choices beat kit, 2.2 MB

Nice idea placing different snares on the same wave and using zones to select!! I built the ubiquitous 808 and 909 kits last night and with a single sound per pad had to comprimise on variations on the different snare sounds for example. Tonight I'll just paste them all into a single file. Keeping each sample the same lenghth means auditioning is really simple with the lock zone feature (its the little things...). Using the same principle with stereo samples and reducing the left-right levels in each section could be a simple workaround for panning?

Thanks for sharing... sounds and tips.

Lupetto74: I guess you could use the same 'trick' for panning but it would not be continous (you have to 'preselect' your panning and that somehow defeats the purpose. Maybe I did not entirely understand how you would implement panning though...

Sciboy188: to upload the kit, you have to unzip it, and then use BeatPack, the free software to sync BeatMaker with your computer. It seems there is a bug in the software for now so only the intel based computers can actually upload new kits. This will probably be fixed really soon.
